Preparation Information for Your Skills Video
Three major things you need to bring for the day:
- lots of energy
- a huge smile
- tons of enthusiasm
What you will need to supply:
General
- if possible, a coach - if you struggle who will be there to help ?
- pitching machine, balls & 100ft of power cord
- someone to feed the pitching machine
- someone to shag balls
- for your interview - a white poster board with your interview written down. You can then read the interview to the camera. A parent or friend can hold the board during filming (see details below).
Personal Interview (30-45 seconds):
- Chin up, shoulders back, no hats, sunglasses or chewing gum.
- Keep still; no fidgeting, rolling eyes or looking away. Speak loud and clear!
- "Hi! My name is {firstname} {lastname}"
- "I play for the {teamname}"
- "I attend {highschool} in {city}, {state} and will graduate in {year}"
- "My GPA is {GPA}, my SAT is {SAT} and my ACT is {ACT} (or pending in {month}/{year})"
- "My main position is {primary}, but I can also play {secondary}"
- Add something catchy at the end, e.g. "I'm a team player who is always willing to give 110%, I have a 'refuse to lose attitude' "
- "Thank you for taking the time to watch my video"
Pitchers & Catchers
- pitchers need a catcher
- catcher needs a pitcher that can hit spots
- catcher needs someone to take throw downs
Infielders & Outfielders
- someone talented to hit balls to spots - left, right, over your head and short - grounders and pop-ups
- someone to take your throws
